Scarlet Runner is a cutting‑edge Carkeek 43 offshore performance racing yacht owned and skippered by Rob Date, widely recognised in Australian ocean racing circles for both inshore and long‑distance offshore campaigns. Launched in 2022, she is one of the newest boats of her class in the fleet and has quickly become a standout performer at major events.

The Carkeek 43 was designed by Shaun Carkeek as a high‑performance offshore racing platform and built locally in Melbourne by Composite Constructions. The design draws on contemporary offshore racing developments with a focus on lightweight structure, stiffness and efficient sail carrying ability. Scarlet Runner’s build incorporates vinylester with E‑glass construction, a thoughtful structural layout and advanced systems that support competitive offshore campaigns.

According to official measurement certificates, Scarlet Runner measures approximately 13.10 m (43 ft) LOA, with a beam of 4.31 m and a draft around 3.18 m, and has a displacement of around 6,300 kg — a balance of lightness and offshore capability that suits both tactical coastal regattas and extended ocean legs. Water ballast is integrated to enhance stability and optimise upwind performance as conditions demand.

Since her launch, Scarlet Runner has been campaigned in a variety of competitive programs — including placing near the front of the fleet in events such as the Melbourne to King Island Yacht Race — and has been actively raced in both inshore regattas and offshore events. Her striking all‑black hull and design ethos reflect a serious, performance‑driven approach.

As a class, the Carkeek 43 combines judicious weight distribution, advanced structural engineering and a powerful sailplan, making it highly competitive under offshore rating systems. Scarlet Runner embodies these attributes, providing excellent potential for both line honours ambitions and solid handicap results in long coastal and offshore racing.
