Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) | Club Racing
I raced aboard Rhiannon, a Jarkan 925, out of Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC), adding to my experience across a diverse range of yacht designs and racing formats. Sailing a 30-foot Australian-built cruiser-racer reinforced my ability to adapt quickly to different deck layouts, rig configurations and crew workflows.
Short-course club racing provided frequent, high-intensity manoeuvres that sharpened my execution around mark roundings, sail handling and crew coordination. This campaign offered valuable hands-on exposure to varied spinnaker setups and spinnaker pole configurations, strengthening core skills in timing, communication and clean manoeuvre execution.
Racing a versatile cruiser-racer like the Jarkan 925 highlighted the balance between performance and practicality, further broadening my understanding of trim, weight placement and sail selection. I’m grateful to Lowa Paszko for the opportunity to sail aboard Rhiannon and be part of the SYC racing program.
