Hanse 505

Shimmer is a Hanse 505, a modern performance cruising yacht built by Hanse Yachts and designed by the respected German naval architects Judel/Vrolijk & Co. The Hanse 505 was introduced in the 2010s as a successor to the Hanse 495 model, defined by a sleek hull form, spacious layout and a design philosophy that blends comfort, ease of handling and capable sailing performance.

At roughly 15.3 m (50 ft) length overall with a beam of 4.75 m, the Hanse 505 combines a generous waterline length with a contemporary deck plan that supports both cruising and competitive sailing. Her standard draft of around 2.38 m (with optional shallower draft variants) and displacement near 14,000 kg provide a stable platform that performs efficiently across a wide range of wind conditions. The fractional sloop rig, twin helm stations and thoughtful control line layout make the boat manageable for short-handed sailing as well as larger crews.
