Cloud 10 is an Adams 10.6, a well-regarded Australian performance club racer and coastal cruiser designed by Joe Adams and built as part of the Adams 10 series. Measuring 10.60 m (34 ft 9 in) LOA with a draft around 1.8 m, this fractional sloop rigged monohull was conceived for competitive club racing and enjoyable cruising on bays and coastal waters. The design has been a fixture in Australian sailing for decades, with many boats sailed regularly in club fleets around Port Phillip and further afield.
The Adams 10.6’s hull is constructed from fibreglass with a fin keel and transom-hung rudder, offering a responsive and stable platform that performs well across a variety of wind and sea conditions. Displacement for this class is typically around 3,047 kg, with around 1,835 kg of ballast, giving the boat a good balance of stability and performance relative to its size.
Originally introduced in the 1980s as an evolution of the popular Adams 10 design, the 10.6 variant blends agility and seaworthiness with a cockpit and deck layout that makes it manageable for club racing or short-handed sailing. The fractional rig and sail plan support lively performance upwind, while spinnakers and other downwind sails add speed and excitement on reaching legs.
Below decks, the Adams 10.6 typically offers a functional layout with sleeping berths, basic galley facilities and all-weather accommodation that supports weekend cruising as well as race campaigns. This combination of performance and practical comfort is part of what has kept the design active within club fleets.
Class associations and championships continue to support the Adams 10 series, and its enduring popularity in twilight, club and regional racing reflects both the design’s capability and the strong community around it.
Cloud 10 represents this classic sailing heritage: a nimble, rewarding yacht that’s at home in club competition, coastal cruising and regattas around Port Phillip and beyond.
