Rushour is a high‑performance 50‑foot multihull designed and built to the Drew 15 concept by owner‑skipper Drew Carruthers. Launched in 2017, she has been campaigned in a number of major offshore races, including record‑breaking action in the Melbourne to Hobart Westcoaster Yacht Race and extensive delivery passages along the Australian east coast. Rushour’s powerful sail plan, lightweight build and modern multihull characteristics have made her one of the standout performance catamarans in the region.

New Caledonia Groupama Race 2025

In June 2025, Rushour took part in the New Caledonia Groupama Race — a challenging 654‑nautical‑mile offshore event around Grande Terre, New Caledonia. While leading on line honours, the yacht suffered a capsize in the Grand Passage on the third night of the race, a dramatic turning point in what had been a competitive campaign.

Emergency procedures were initiated when Rushour activated distress beacons shortly after midnight. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center and local race management quickly coordinated aerial and surface search efforts, with support from the nearby racing yacht Roamance and an aircraft deployed for reconnaissance. The vessel was located capsized but afloat, and all crew members were confirmed safe and subsequently airlifted by helicopter to Nouméa after being recovered from the inverted hull.

The incident lasted many hours and drew attention to the serious, unforgiving conditions that can arise in offshore multihull racing, even for well‑prepared and experienced teams. Though the capsize marked the end of Rushour’s participation in that race, the successful rescue of the crew underscored the effectiveness of emergency protocols and the priority of safety in offshore competition.
