Salt is a 2021 Solaris 50 launched as a high‑performance cruiser‑racer, designed by Javier Soto Acebal and built by Solaris Yachts in Italy — a shipyard with roots going back to 1974 and a reputation for blending elegant craftsmanship with advanced sailing performance. Measuring 15.40 m LOA, Salt carries a modern fractional rig and a hull shaped to maximise powered stability and foil efficiency, making her equally adept in competitive racing or long coastal passages.

The Solaris 50 stands out for its clean aerodynamic lines and purposeful deck layout. On deck, Salt is equipped with a Hall Spars carbon mast, a carbon V‑boom with rod rigging, and a full performance sail inventory from North Sails — including 3Di Endurance and Ocean mainsails and jibs, Code Zero, and asymmetric spinnakers. Four electric Harken winches, two additional manual winches, a self‑tacking jib track and a carbon bowsprit complete a sail handling system geared toward both short‑handed and fully crewed efficiency. Solarpowered systems, bow thruster and an upgraded Volvo Penta 75 hp engine ensure reliable control and comfort under power.

The hull is constructed using advanced composite techniques — E‑glass with a closed‑cell PVC Airex foam core and vacuum‑infusion lamination — which provides a stiff, lightweight structure capable of handling the loads of a performance sailplan. This construction contributes to both speed potential and durability, whether racing around buoys or cruising offshore.

A striking charcoal hull and tasteful exterior lines reflect Solaris’ commitment to both aesthetics and seaworthiness. Below decks, the raised saloon design increases light and headroom, and the yacht’s layout — typically three cabins and two heads — is engineered for comfort and practicality for extended time aboard, whether in a regatta or on passage.

Salt has an active sailing life, racing from Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) in Melbourne and turning heads at events such as Festival of Sails 2026, where she won the Passage Spinnaker Series, Division 1 overall. Constant, meticulous maintenance has kept her near–new, preserving both performance and value in a class where competitive sailing and cruising aspirations are equally important.

The Solaris 50’s design ethos — clean lines, intelligent ergonomics, and a balance between racing capability and cruising refinement — continues to make yachts like Salt a compelling choice for discerning sailors who want both speed and comfort in one platform.
